The Roadrunners swept their most recent Skyline Tri-Match hosted by Sarah Lawrence College. The team defeated Sarah Lawrence and Old Westbury in decisive fashion, sparking a three-game win streak after their victorious weekend.
Not only did Ramapo increase their record to 13-8 overall and 9-3 in the conference, but senior captain JoJo Meyer also won the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) Defensive Player of the Week for his notable performances in the tournament.
Ramapo used their energy to dominate over Sarah Lawrence in their first match of two. Led by Reece Kirchofer, Ramapo tallied 53 kills over Sarah Lawrence’s 37 and hit .359 overall. Kirchofer contributed 17 of those kills, adding two aces and six digs along the way.
Meyer had a stellar game for the Roadrunners, recording 44 assists, seven digs and four aces. Not only did he achieve this feat, but he led his teammates in all these aspects of the game to earn his Player of the Week title.
Freshman Brady Cascone also came in clutch for the Roadrunners, contributing 10 kills, two aces and five digs during the match.
Collectively, Ramapo outperformed Sarah Lawrence in kills, blocks, assists and aces. They won the four-set match in a 3-1 victory, outscoring the Gryphons 71-43.
Their second game of the day was against Old Westbury, and Ramapo came through with a 3-0 shutout. The Roadrunners absolutely dominated offensively in this game, hitting .437 overall. The team recorded 47 kills over Westbury’s 17 and was able to monopolize on the opponent’s errors for massive offensive gains.
Kirchofer once again led the Roadrunners in kills with 17 in total, tallying two assists in the meantime. Cascone also gave a notable performance during the match, collecting eight kills, three aces and three digs to put the Roadrunners ahead.
Meyer contributed 36 of the team’s 42 total assists, continuing to be an offensive weapon on the court for Ramapo. Meyer also recorded three kills and 13 digs.
Like their previous match of the day, Ramapo dominated in kills, blocks, assists and aces throughout the entire match. Their sweeping victory tallied up 58 points over Old Westbury’s 22.
Ramapo will return to Skyline action today to play against Mount Saint Vincent in the Bradley Center at 7 p.m.
