Winning has never felt so good for the Roadrunners, and the men’s volleyball team definitely knows it. After their sweeping wins against University of Mount Saint Vincent (UMSV) and St. Joseph’s University Brooklyn (SJUB), their win-streak extends to eight stellar games.
Not to mention, seven of those wins have been 3-0 shutouts. Both games against UMSV and SJUB were on the road in skyline action, and both reaped great results.
In their first match of the day against UMSV, the boys won 3-0 (25-17, 27-25, 25-13). The offense killed it — pun intended. Reece Kirchofer tallied seven kills, along with Brady Cascone who tallied four. Kirchofer not only led the team in kills, but in digs as well, collecting six. He also contributed two blocks and one assist, along with Cascone contributing five digs.
Jan Tracz led the team in blocks, tallying eight, while also collecting three kills and one solo block along the way. JoJo Meyer also contributed 20 of the team’s 23 total assists, and tacked on six assisted blocks to his stat sheet as well. Caleb Ford had a notable performance against UMSV, adding three kills, one ace, two blocks and one dig.
The UMSV Dolphins were led by Olatomiwa Ibitayo, recording eight kills, two aces, one block and four digs. His teammate Terrence Short had a vital contribution for his team as well with another eight kills.
The Roadrunners were able to capitalize on the Dolphin’s 27 errors during the match in comparison to their own 13. Despite UMSV having eight more attempts than Ramapo during the match, Ramapo outscored them by the end 43-26. Ramapo was able to outperform UMSV all around, in kills, assists, blocks and aces.
Ramapo absolutely dominated in their second game of the day against SJUB. It was another sweeping 3-0 victory for the team, going 25-13, 25-9, 25-15. They kept the intensity from the first game and thrust it into the second, hitting .386 overall.
Kirchofer and Tracz each had a noteworthy game, with both players recording eight kills during the match. Kirchofer added three aces, two digs and three total blocks to his stats for the day, with Tracz accumulating two blocks, two digs and one ace.
Meyer solidified his role as the consistent team-leader in assists. This time around, he tallied 26 of the team’s 28 total assists, continuing to be a leading asset on the court. Right by his side was Cascone, who also contributed five kills, four aces and five digs, leading the team on defense.
Just as their previous match, the Roadrunners controlled every aspect of the game. They led in kills, assists, blocks and aces to secure a comfortable win, outscoring their opponent 46-16.
The Roadrunners will honor their seniors in a pre-match ceremony before their final game of the regular season on Wednesday night. Competing in Skyline action, the team will face New Jersey City University in the Bradley Center at 7 p.m.
