“The White Lotus” star Aimee Lou Wood has been getting a lot of attention recently and not for her great acting.
The star has been in the spotlight for her distinct gap-tooth look, with some praising her for her unique look and many simply being cruel.
Wood has expressed her discomfort with the conversation surrounding her teeth, telling British GQ, “The whole conversation is just about my teeth, and it makes me a bit sad because I’m not getting to talk about my work.”
She also expressed that she does not think she would be getting nearly the same amount of attention on her appearance if she were a man.
“I don’t know if it was a man would we be talking about it this much?” said Wood.
As much as the topic of celebrity appearance and the harsh treatment of the media is discussed, it still never ends. Wood is just one of many women who have to deal with constant scrutiny if they even look a bit different than what the public deems as beautiful.
This conversation is honestly just tiring. Yes, celebrities are in the public eye, and yes, they will forever be picked apart because of it, but it gets old.
If the only thing you have to say about a female celebrity is about their appearance, then I automatically think you are a sad, uneducated and sexist individual who needs to consider getting more hobbies.
Women will constantly be put down in our society, regardless of what field they are in. There will always be something to say about a woman and a lot of times, when there is nothing else to say, their appearance will get brought up, and that is the sad truth.
