Dating is rightfully difficult for men who promote Trump

The 2016 Presidential Election has significantly shaped our country and how we think about voting. When former President and current presidential-elect Donald Trump won in 2016, many people — including my family and I — were completely surprised.

From overturning Roe v. Wade to calling the COVID-19 pandemic a hoax, to the Jan. 6 insurrection, Trump’s presidency has had many negative effects on the United States. With all these things in mind, Gen Z men who identify as Trump supporters are having trouble finding dates.

Personally for me, I always have to do a social media search before going out with a guy. If I see some “red flags,” such as following people like Trump, I immediately feel annoyed and uninterested. These Trump-loving men only like him because they think it’s cool that a rich businessman wants to run the U.S. They do not consider the harmful things Trump will do to this country and the rest of the world in his unfortunate upcoming term.

Supporting Trump reveals that you do not actually care about women’s rights. I have heard some people say “I voted for him because I want my groceries to be cheaper.” While that is a valid response, Harris had a similar plan. The difference is that Harris has never put us in danger as vice president, and as a woman herself, she sees women’s health as another key issue that needs a resolution.

Women’s rights issues include: equal pay and treatment, reproductive rights, and violence against women, among other things. With Trump back in office, his administration could possibly undo President Biden’s executive orders that protect and expand reproductive health. Guttmacher states that Trump and Vance’s administration “will likely dissolve the interagency Task Force on Reproductive Healthcare Access as well as the White House Gender Policy Council.” It also does not help that Trump chooses to surround himself with other horrible influences such as Elon Musk, and in the past, Jeffrey Epstein. Both Musk and Epstein have been accused of sexual harassment and assault.

Newsweek has said it perfectly, “Women want to be with men who respect them. They value men who think of the well-being of others, not just themselves.” To me, Gen Z men who support Trump as President come off as obnoxious and arrogant. Why would a woman want to be with a man who has those qualities?
