The Roadrunner Invitational was a success for its host, as the men’s track and field team finished in second place, while the lady Roadrunners took home third place.
Michael Begen was the star for the Roadrunners, placing in four field events and qualifying for the ECAC Championships in three of them.
His 58.12-meter-long javelin throw took the crown, followed by a 14.62-meter throw in the shot put. His 48.65-meter hammer throw was good for third overall, while he placed in fifth in the discus, throwing it for 42.32 meters.
Staying in the field, Cameron Rodgers and Dominick Smith earned fourth and sixth place, respectively, in the javelin, hitting marks of 54.48 meters and 50.53 meters.
Calvin Hartman’s leap of 4.30 meters in the pole vault was good for fourth place.
Tom Moore had one of the best results for the men, finishing the 5,000-meter run in second place with a time of 15:44.99. He was followed by Alec Barton, sixth place, and Will McCoy, eighth place, with times of 16:06.01 and 16:09.86.
Three Roadrunners earned top 10 places in the 800-meter run, as well, with Gus Macdonald finishing in third at 1:57.13, followed by sixth-place finisher Christopher Dugan at 1:59.65 and Daniel Torres, who finished in ninth place at 2:01.06.
Kevin Diana earned a sixth-place finish in the 100-meter dash, running it in 11.28 seconds, while Dillon Fischer placed eighth in the 400-meter hurdles, finishing at 57.90 seconds.
As for the women, Emily Shipley took home the victory in the pole vault, clearing 3.45 meters. Jessica Cusick earned second place in the hammer throw with a mark of 42.91 meters. She also placed second in the high jump with a leap of 1.53 meters. Her 10.51-meter shot put throw was good enough for sixth place.
Emily Brock earned fifth place in the 5,000-meter run with her 19:01.31 mark.
Na’Shimah Allen and Kell Koss earned fifth and ninth place respectively in the 400-meter dash at 1:00.89 and 1:02.38.
In the 800-meter, Paris Hughes’ 2:22.65 was good for third place, while Emily Croonquist’s 2:25.32 earned her seventh place.
Amanda Matesic finished in fifth place in the 400-meter with a time of 1:08.87, while Alicia Green finished in sixth at 1:09.99.
In the 200-meter dash, Allen clocked in with a sixth place finish in 26.48 seconds.
Rebecca Carra finished in third place in the javelin with a throw of 35.56 meters, while Melanie Odatalla finished in fourth with a throw of 34.58 meters.
Amber Edwards earned a fifth place finish in the triple jump, hitting 10.52 meters.
The 4×400 relay team of Green, Allen, Butler and Croonquist ran a third place 4:11.46.
Amber Miller and Jenna Braun earned sixth and eighth place respectively with marks of 2.85 and 2.70 meters.
Ramapo returns to action on Friday when they travel to the Sam Howell Invitational in Princeton.
