Ramapo College celebrated the seniors on the men’s and women’s basketball team last night before their subsequent games against Rowan University.

The Lady Roadrunners honored captain Bridgette Buckalew as well as fellow seniors Jina Crawford, Hannah Cambel, Kelly McNulty, Jillian Artrip and Stephanie Johnson.

The men’s team recognized five graduating seniors of their own — captains Thomas Bonacum, Josh Ford and Jimbo Long along with teammates Christopher Moseley and Nick Stanek.

Unfortunately for the women’s team, the celebrations were short-lived when Rowan defeated them 71-47. The Profs scored 19 before the Roadrunners could muster one. The first point came almost two minutes into the second quarter from senior Jina Crawford. Crawford led the Roadrunners with seven points in the first half as the team headed into the locker room with Rowan in the lead 34-12.

Crawford finished the game with a team-high 15 points, eight of which came from the second half. Crawford scored the first points of the second half, allowing the Roadrunners to take it up a notch and go on a 6-0 run for almost five minutes until the Profs battled back to take the game.

The Roadrunners finished the season 7-18 overall (4-14 NJAC), while the Profs improve to 15-9 overall (12-6 NJAC).

The men’s team was victorious over the Profs as they came away with an 82-75 win, making it the second season in a row that the Roadrunners have won the regular season.

Thomas Bonacum led the team in points and rebounds with 13 and seven respectively in true captain style. Fellow graduating seniors Jimbo Long and Christopher Moseley both added six points of their own to help seal the win. The defense came up critical in the win by keeping Rowan at 31 percent shooting from the field while the Roadrunners dominated with 42 percent of their own.

The second half was more intense for the players, coaches and fans as the Profs came out of the locker room hot, posting 10 points within the first five minutes of the half and taking the lead by eight points. With a little less than five minutes later however, the Roadrunners turned it around to take the game and continue their home-game undefeated win streak. Bonacum finished with a team-high 18 points, Moseley had 15, Peterson had 13, and Stanek had eight.

The Roadrunners will host the NJAC Semi-Final next Wednesday night against an opponent to be determined.
